Bus tour of chester

We picked up our coach at the bus station near by. Note the really cool wooden arches in the waiting room.
And they are one of many places in town trying to combat global warming by planting the rooftop. Here it is some kind of rosey moss.
On the way out we quickly passed the chester sunked garden with the metal trees. They are designed to allow all kinds of things to grow up to create tree like structures. It was inspired by David Attenborough's commitment to the environment. The trees have trunks that go down about a story. I hope to have time to go tour it. From what I could see from the bus it made me think of the gardens in Ft Worth

Things we learned along the way.
Shops like these were introduced to sway people away from alcohol. Not sure it worked but I can attest that these people know how to make a great cup of chocolate.

Chimneys like these started a trend back in the day
And check out this old place from 1571.
They are built out like this for a reason - tax evasion. You were taxed by how much land was taken up by your foundation.
We got off the bus to go see this old church site.

Next door were the ruins of an old Roman amphitheater. Not as photogenic but still pretty cool.
Then off to dinner. Have you ever heard of Thai tapas? Neither had we so we had to try. The menu is designed so all options come with limited amounts so you can try lots of items. We started of with prawn crackers that came with three sauces to dip.
And followed up with corn patties, dumplings, chicken satay, curry and fish cakes. All great.
Flora and fauna of the day.
And the reason I may love this place the most. They don't discourage the pigeons, they build homes for them.
Haven't decided what tomorrow brings. Will check the weather to see if we go in to tour the castle or check out the world renowned chester zoo.
