Chester
First, I forgot a few things yesterday. My favorite shot of the swans on River Avon. I was up close with the couple feeding them but this made a prettier shot.
And yesterday our train went under the Bristol Channel to get us here. Fortunately we were most of the way through when our ears started popping and Mike realized what was going on. He doesn't like the idea of the Chunnel any more than high spaces.
Now we are safely ensconced in town and woke up this morning to this view out our window.
Right around the corner is a modern place I could move into.
Chester is a town of all kinds of architecture. Sometimes right next to each other.
Modern
Old
Typical old English
Next to a new top on an old place.
And everything else.
And check these details. A window
Multiple chimney pots
The tiles on this eave.
You could wander this place for another week and still see much more.
Next we are going to walk the old Roman wall.
Years ago we frequented an auction house that regularly advertised "containers from England." There would be tons of stained glass and chimney pots, and it kind of broke my heart because tht was history being removed and relocated. So I was glad to see the stained glass and chimney pots in these pics.
