Edinburg I

We slept in and headed out to see the city mid morning. My first impression was of buses. Buses everywhere. So many buses that some stops had two dedicated lanes for all the traffic. Add to that tourists everywhere. It felt like New York City during rush hour. There is also a trolly running through town and construction on roads or buildings everywhere.

But the town is beautiful with all kinds of art and architecture.

And interesting walks.
This street is two levels deep and was used in Harry Potter movies.

Lots of cobblestone.
I never could get many good pictures from the bus of the Edinburgh Parliament building to do it justice but is was a fascinating piece of art designed by architect Enric Miralles and is supposed to evoke the sense of the natural landscape of the area.
Go online and look at an aerial shot of the whole thing. Every side is different. If we can, I may try to get back tomorrow to do it justice

Time for a nap then more touring downtown on foot.

  1. Yikes. Reminds me of Boston. Lots of history and architecture, but also very crowded. Worth it?
