Glasgow From the Road to
Mike and I are both feeling the effects of being new(old) tourists so decided to hop on the bus and stay there most of the day. We got off at The Necropolis because I thought it was a gentle walk over the top of the Hill to see it. I took this photo from the top at others following our footsteps.
Whatever energy I had for other wanderings waved a white flag.
The area is acres of beautiful old stones and monuments, none photographed well by me.
But I did get a couple of interesting close ups. If you can't read it, the first is to an old bookseller with outstanding social traits, say all his friends.
Later we changed buses at an iconic Glasgow site called the Armadillo.
We did learn lots of fun history along the way. My favorite was that Scotland has a different form of law. When you are accused of a felony and go to trail you can be found innocent, guilty, or not proven. The later means "we know you are guilty but can't prove it." Hence the phrase "got off Scott free."
Staying away from home always requires a certain level of attention to ones needs. How does the shower turn on, how does the remote work, where is the toilet when you wake up in the middle of the night. Add to that the need to always be translating Pounds to Dollars, Fahrenheit to Celsius, and miles to kilometers.
Ok. Thought I had it all covered. My room has no coffee maker. It does have a tea kettle.
Tomorrow we are off to Oban.
Love all the posts so far! I hope you've scheduled some days off to rest! Looks like a fun adventure!
ReplyDeleteThis is Beth and Scott by the way, just realized it says anonymous.
DeleteWe have. Today is mostly sitting in a car and looking.
DeleteI would love spending time among the gravestones (Jack would not). Not sure how crabby I'd be if I couldn't make coffee in my room...How are the temps?
ReplyDeleteColder than I expected
DeleteI like “not proven!” That way, you can try them again when you have more evidence. The cemetery pics are beautiful - will check them out when I have a Wi-Fi connection 😜
ReplyDeleteCoffee bags! Love it! Assuming you’ll be taste testing in Oban!!
