Jet Lag Day

First of all, this is the second time I am creating this post as I deleted the entire last one when trying to publish.

We slept late, had breakfast, walked around town a little, came back and slept some more, had dinner, and walked around some more

Glasgow is an amazing place. It is a beautiful combo of old and new with every kind of person you can imagine and a dedication to the environment.

Much of downtown is primed for pedestrians. Lots of fun shops and every kind of cuisine, including the ubiquitous McDonalds down on the right.

Here is an old apartment building I could move into in a heart beat

Here are a couple of different sidewalk signs.

The only busker we saw was an accordion player. The defib stations are even on the bus. Makes me wonder if heart failure is an issue.

An interesting sculpture installation covering windows at a car park.

You will encounter every person imaginable here. When a tour bus unloaded near us, a Chinese family got off and Dad was telling everyone where to head next ...but he was doing it in Russian. Behind him a couple was communicating in sign language. You could sit on one of the numerous benches and watch the whole world pass in front of you. I never tire of the diversity.

And there are pigeons everywhere. If you make the mistake of feeding one one hundred more will descend. How would I know this you ask?

The signs of environmental commitment are everywhere. Many of the city buses are electric and bicycles to rent are common. Here is a sign by a new building going up.
And, in addition to our wooden takeout cutlery our paper straws feel like wood!

What really impressed us was inside our hotel room. When you enter, the room key goes into a slot that turns on the power. When you leave the opposite happens. Not only does it save power during to day but you can leave lights and tv set where you want it on return without hassle or guilt.

We are having a great time and hope the jet lag, foot bruising and leg pain is not an issue tomorrow as we will spend much of it on a bus.  Oh, and I had haggis. Enough said.
