Orkney - I
My post yesterday got cut off and, after researching, I think there may be a limit to the info I can put in one post. Today was such a jam packed day I will do four separate blogs so I can share more pictures.
And I know you were disappointed you missed the photo of my fish pie so I am reposting.
Next is a couple of my breakfast cereal box. Check out all the languages front and back.
Mike had a good avocado toast with fried egg while I was back in the room, so no photo.
And off we went to the ferry for the 90 minute ride to Orkney.
We loaded early so got to watch all the cars coming on.
And we are off.
Another bit of trivia. When cruising in the old days, rich folks could pay to have the best view coming and going. Which was Port Outward Starboard Home. POSH
House on the hill with it's own private windmills. Interesting fact - Orkney produces 120 percent of the energy it needs. More than anywhere else.
We got there on time and met our tour guide that would take us all over the island for the day.Our group ended up with six delightful other people so the day starts well.
Here are a few shots from our first scenic overlook. That will end section I and we will pick up Section II with the Neolithic digs at Skara Brae.
Gorgeous! Love the lighthouse as your ferry was boarding. Beautiful island.
