Orkney - III
The Ring of Brodgar is a stone henge older than Stonehenge. The stones are smaller and many have disappeared into the boggy earth of this island. They do not know how many may have fallen over and/or washed away as the earth here doesn't permit that kind of record.
This stone fell and cracked long ago and they left it where it was found.
This one on the left started to crack so they did repair it with a bit of concrete.
This one was hit by lightning in recent years and they are still trying to determine if they should leave it or repair.
This final one is added only because a cute little bunny popped up on the bottom left of the screen. He is camouflaged but the ears stand out.
This last photo is a more modern addition. All over different areas where tourists are walking they have embedded this metal gridding that gives you sure footing and allows the area to stay fairly natural.
Next we head for the town of Kirkwall for cathedrals and castles. Section IV will be the last of a very long day.
I see the bunny!!
