Salisbury to Chester
Mike wanted to go see Salisbury Cathedral with the world's oldest mechanical clock and the best copy of the four remaining Magna Carta. I took a different bus stop to go see the old town. Mike's phone doesn't send photos to mine well so you will have to get him to show you the ones he took.
Old Salisbury is another of those interesting places with lots of history. Most of the roads down in the market area were named by what they sold there.
There is a Poultry Cross in the center that is being restored. It was designed to protect vendors.
A neat old inn down a hidden alley.
Old buildings.
Red phone booths with no lines.
St Thomas Becket's Church.
Who doesn't want to get a pint at The Pickled Frog.
And a place I'll shop just because.
We are on the train headed to Chester via Wales and the location signs changed. Now the preferred name is in Welsh with it translated to English. And the announcements over the intercom are the same way.Note: I thought Welsh tongue was Gaelic but after hearing the conductor for the last two hours I knew it had to be something else. It is Celtic based but has other influences.
The countryside.
A community garden that stretched about half a mile.
And a few shots of the Shropshire Hills National Landscape.
Chester will be our stay for the next five nights before heading home. It has gone by too fast.
Awww 🥰
