The Train to Edinburgh

We got up on time, the taxi arrived on time, we made it to the train on time. Problem is, my phone doesn't recognize that the morning train to  Edinburgh doesn't run on Sunday. Until we get there. Now it displays a different schedule - one that leaves us sitting on a cold, windy bench for three hours. So I looked at this until we cam up with a plan.

Ok. To the bus stop a few blocks away that will take us to a train that will catch the other train. Off we go. But the bus station seems to be almost non existent and the buses are all locked up. New plan - go back up the hill to the hotel and have breakfast and kill time until the 12:30 train arrives.

The train ride was fine except we got rerouted a few times due to some issue or another. We passed a lot more freshly mown fields that, I was wrong, are not hay but barley. Used for both livestock and beer making.
we stopped at on station long enough to see these Scottrail volunteers taking care of the grounds.
after that it was harder to take pictures due to rain and light.
But you get the idea.

We left our hotel in Thurso at 8am and checked into hotel in Edinburgh at 8pm. Tired from doing nothing all day and this place has a really nice bathtub.

I promise pics of castles tomorrow.
